Regina Hill, the suspended Orlando city commissioner facing multiple felony charges, has officially filed to run for re-election in District 5, despite her upcoming trial.

Hill was indicted last year on felony elder abuse charges and suspended from her seat. Prosecutors allege she took control of an elderly constituent’s finances, draining over $100,000 for personal expenses—including hotel stays, rental cars, and luxury items. She also faces charges of mortgage fraud and fraudulent use of personal identification.

Hill has pleaded not guilty and insists she will clear her name before voters head to the polls in November.

“I’m still standing in my truth,” Hill told reporters. “I wouldn’t be running for re-election otherwise.”

Her trial is set for May, and if she’s acquitted, she could return to office before Election Day. Meanwhile, interim Commissioner Shan Rose, who won a special election to replace Hill, is also in the race.

“The district deserves a leader who will continue to fight for honesty, integrity, and real change,” Rose said in a statement.

Hill, first elected in 2014, has held onto her seat through multiple reelections. The November ballot will also include races for Districts 1 and 3, with Tom Keen and Kevin Kendrick running in District 1 and Samuel Chambers in District 3.

With her legal battle looming, Hill’s campaign is certain to be one of the most closely watched in Orlando politics this year.
